Andrew R Fox.com

Hi, I'm Andy and I like to blog about all sorts of neat things: sports, politics, beer, my boring life, and everything in between. I'm 25 and am a graduate student studying to be an English teacher at the College at Brockport, State University of New York. I'm getting married next year to the most amazing girl, and we blog about that together. You can email me: andrew (at) andrewrfox (dot) com

All I wanna know is...

I will answer this from the religious angle, because I have some family members who are against homosexual marriage for this reason (at least I’m pretty sure it’s this reason): the union of homosexuals is against the word of god, where it is defined as the union between a man and a woman - strictly. Therefore, if homosexuals are allowed the right to marry, god may take revenge against our country for its sin. It also brings about the end times.

That’s how this liberal, atheist brain understood it, anyways.

If you are against gay marriage, how does it being legal in your state effect you? Like, why would you oppose it so vehemently? How does it take away from your well-being and life?

I’m not being facetious. I really want to know why people freak out so much and rush to put bans on the ballots and other such crazy things. Probably preaching to the choir around here, but I must know why others, who are not gay, care so much about making sure homosexuals cannot get married.

I guess companies would be against it for insurance and dependent purposes and that’s just cold-hearted. I need to know why a normal citizen cares so much about 2 men or 2 women getting hitched.

I also wonder if social conservatives exist on Tumblr.
